AAIE Mentorship Program
The AAIE Mentorship program is designed to pair those new to the field of International Education with more experienced professionals in their specific IE field. This is a great opportunity for those new to the field to develop a professional relationship with someone outside their institution. It can also be a chance for a more experienced professional new to Alabama to expand their professional network. Those interested should be able to commit to one year and be available via email, phone, and meet in person at the AAIE spring conference, as well as the NAFSA Regional conference in fall.
Who Can Participate?
Mentees should be relatively new to the field of International Education (less than 2 years) and mentors should have a minimum of 3 years experience in their specific field (i.e. Student and Scholar Services, Study Abroad, Admissions or ESL) and regularly attend AAIE and NAFSA professional conferences.
Expectations:
The mentor and mentee will be expected to communicate via email, phone, or in person at conferences for one year on a regular basis (recommended every 1-2 months), beginning in spring prior to the annual AAIE conference and ending the following spring. This can be an opportunity for both parties to discuss current scenarios or issues with a professional outside their institution.
Other recommended activities:
Interested participants should complete the form below and you will be contacted regarding a possible pairing as they become available:
